Dr. Lisa A. Hopkins

Lisa Hopkins received her Optometric Degree in 1995 from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. Prior to attending Optometry school, Dr. Hopkins obtained her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in Biology, from Moorhead State University in Minnesota.

Dr. Hopkins has been at the same location in Long Beach since receiving her Optometric License in 1995. Her Long Beach Office is located at: 5610 E 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA 90803.

Dr. Hopkins’ practice is a General Practice with Optometry and Optical Dispensary services (contacts, glasses, and sun glasses). She sees patients of all ages, with the exception of children under the age of 3. Dr. Hopkins prescribes glasses and contact lenses, treats ocular diseases, and co-manages diseases like diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration with treating physicians.

Dr. Hopkins enjoys fitting rigid gas permeable contacts (RGPs) as well as scleral lenses, which is a specialized skill. Both rigid gas permeable contact lenses and scleral lenses are prescribed for various patients with different contact lens needs, and can be used by patients with certain corneal diseases, such as keratoconus.

Dr. Hopkins’ optometric team specializes in fitting specialty sport eye-wear, fashion frames, designer sun wear, safely glasses, and children’s frames.

In addition to her maintaining her optometric practice, Dr. Hopkins volunteers for numerous humanitarian organizations, providing services such as: vision screenings for local schools, vision testing for Special Olympic athletes, and free eye exams to Catalina Island families without insurance.

Dr. Hopkins has also participated in Project Amigo, which is a program that helps children in Colima, Mexico to achieve academic success. While in Colima, Dr. Hopkins also provided vision exams, glasses and eye-glass fittings for residents.

Dr. Hopkins has done vision and health screenings for many local charitable organizations and is an active member of the Long Beach Rotary Club. In 2004, Dr. Hopkins was awarded the Long Beach Rotary Club’s “Cup of Kindness” for her involvement with the Ronald McDonald House of Long Beach and with Habitat for Humanity (both locally and on volunteer trips to Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela).
